Tsinghua Observatory Open Night

On 28th August, Tsinghua Observatory held its first public open night of the 2016-2017 fall semester. The event was hosted by the Tsinghua Astronomical Society (a student organization) and the Tsinghua Center for Astrophysics.

On a clear weekend night with cool breeze, we had an enthusiastic public turnout. People began queuing half an hour in advance, and the total number of visitors reached 270, a new record high. Observation targets ranged from Saturn, Saturn's largest moon Titan, Cassini division in the Saturn ring system to the double open clusters in Perseus. While there is still room for improvement, we will endeavour to organize more open nights in the future to satisfy people’s curiosities in the mysteries of the universe.
