Hot Gas in the Universe:The 2nd HUBS Workshop Was Held Successfully

The 2nd “Hot Universe Baryon Surveyor (HUBS)” Workshop was held online from March 31 to April 2, 2022. The workshop was jointly hosted by Tsinghua University, Shanghai Astronomical Observatory, Xiamen University, and the Tsung-Dao Lee Institute, and was organized by Xiamen University


The workshop was originally scheduled to be held at Xiamen University in October 2021, with online participation supported. However, due to the pandemic, the workshop was postponed twice and was eventually changed into an online format. The main platform for the workshop was Zoom and extended by Slack for document sharing and further discussion.


More than 160 experts and scholars, from more than 30 institutions and universities from China, the United States, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, France, Spain, Japan and other countries, attended the workshop. There were 53 talks in total, 27 of which were invited. The workshop was organized around 9 topics: circumgalactic medium, intergalactic medium,galactic feedback, active galactic nuclei, galaxy clusters, interstellar medium, supernova remnants, diffuse X-ray background, and X-ray space missions. During the workshop, the participants had a wide range of discussions on the topics, based on the talks, and made use of a variety of tools to enhance communication.
