Ultra-hot Jupiter is a class of giant exoplanets with extremely high temperatures. Due to their unique chemical and physical properties, this class of exoplanet have become a popular research subject in recent years. In this talk, I will present observed results of ultra-hot Jupiters using both transmission and emission spectroscopy. We conducted a survey of a dozen ultra-hot Jupiters using ground-based high-resolution spectrographs, including CRIRES+, CARMENES, HARPS-N, and discovered various chemical species such as H, Ca, Fe, CO, and OH. Furthermore, we have observed their thermal emission spectra and found that temperature inversion layers are common on their dayside hemispheres.

BIO

Fei Yan obtained his Ph.D from NAOC in 2015. He was a joint doctoral student of the European Southern Observatory and NAOC. He conducted postdoctoral research at the Max Planck Institute for Astronomy and the University of Göttingen between 2015 and 2022. In July 2022, he joined the Department of Astronomy at the University of Science and Technology of China with the Young Talents Program. His main research focuses on observation of exoplanet atmospheres with high-resolution spectrographs, and he is involved in several spectrograph consortiums, such as CRIRES+/VLT, PEPSI/LBT and CHORUS/GTC.
