Dwarf galaxies play a fundamental role in our understanding of galaxy formation and cosmology. The LCDM has been proven successful in reproducing many observational properties, especially at large scales. Yet challenges rise at small scales. Here I will review the diversity of the dwarf galaxies, their potential challenges to LCDM. In particular, I will introduce our recent work on the discovery of a population of dwarf galaxies which are deficient in dark matter.

BIO

Professor Qi Guo is an expert on galaxy formation and cosmology at the National Astronomical Observatories, Chinese Academy of Sciences. She graduated at the Max-Planck Institute for Astrophysics in 2009 and held a postdoc position in Durham University.
